Laura Kavanaugh – electronics, voice

Elizabeth Millar – amplified clarinet
Craig Pedersen – amplified trumpet
In their Instant Places projects Kavanaugh and Birse use hardware/software systems of their own design to present generative installations and performances.They began making performances and installations as a team in 1997, and from 1997 to 2002 traveled throughout Canada and Europe, making installation and performance works for festival venues and art galleries.
A duo featuring the hollowed-out sounds of Craig Pedersen and Elizabeth Millar playing amplified trumpet and clarinet, Sound of the Mountain comes from a strong history of improv and extended performance techniques, Sound of The Mountain offer their audience long-form deep listening experiences through the sculpting of vitalized breath. Recent highlights of their work include concerts across Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, British Columbia, Singapore, Australia & Malaysia, including 2016 edition of Halifax’s Obey Convention.
