Jacques Demierre is a pianist, composer and improviser. Whether acoustic or electroacoustic, respectful of the frames of traditional writing or freely improvised, his experimentations can be music just as well as sound poetry and sound interventions in situ. They are nonetheless all moved by the same search for awareness of sound.
Demierre has collaborated with many of Europe’s and the World’s finest improvisers including Han Bennink, John Butcher, Peter Evans, Barry Guy, Joëlle Léandre, Okkyung Lee, Thomas Lehn, Christian Marclay, Barre Philips, Irene Schweizer, Elliott Sharp, Roger Turner, and countless more.
Axel Dörner is one of the most unique voices in free improvisation. He developed a completely different language for the trumpet in the late 1990s. Most of the ensembles he is part of are characterized by a non-hierarchical collaboration of the musicians involved. He has performed or recorded with Frank Gratkowski, Sven-Åke Johansson, Peter Kowald, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Phil Minton, Yoshihide Otomo, Alexander von Schlippenbach, Ken Vandermark, and many others.
Jonas Kocher is a sound artist and accordionist with a strong interest in process oriented works and improvisation. As sound artist Kocher has realised works that are situated between composed theatre, installation and concert pieces. He currently works in duo with Joke Lanz, in trio with Axel Dörner and Jacques Demierre, in duo with Gaudenz Badrutt, in trio with Hans Koch and Gaudenz Badrutt, and with the Šalter Ensemble.
